Hi! My name is Corey and I am a farmer’s wife, mom to Blakely, and am a business communication professor by day!

I often joke that my motto is “work smarter, not harder,” and this is how the blog was born. My goal is to find ways to be more efficient, productive, and frugal so that I can spend more time with my family and doing the things I love!

Besides being busy with work, a toddler, and managing the money-side of our farm, I am a newbie real estate investor. I took the plunge and bought my first rental house in early 2017. Not only do I want more of my time, I also love the idea that my money is working hard without me doing more.

My vision for this blog is to provide resources for the working mom, stay-at-home mom, #bossbabe, or anyone just trying to be more efficient with their life. I love seeing so many women taking advantage of the side hustle or starting their own business, and I want to give them resources to devote more time to their passions.

So, I am a Texan in Training…

…training to be a farmer’s wife
…training as a mom
…training as a newbie real estate investor
…training as a #bossbabe
…training as a professor

Texan in Training is this California native’s outlet for my love of writing. I’ll share my love and interest for fitness, mom life, bring a working mom, living on the farm, and crafts (when I have time!). I’m so excited you’ve stopped by!
